Help us serve the Bay Area community by providing crucial shelter and supportive services for survivors of domestic violence
I recently volunteered at MSC South this past weekend along with several people. It was such a wonderful experience and everybody really enjoyed it. To be able to clean the dorms we were cleaning for over 400 people was really humbling to say the least and really helped me, and I hope the people I was with, gain a better sense of meaning in the world and what each of us needs to do to help our community.
This was the best volunteering experience I have ever had. Everyone is so sweet and love what their doing and it really shows. I would recommend anyone who is looking for a valuable service to look into it. Just all around awesome and I love everyone there!
Incredibly well-run organization that doesn't just serve meals, but helps people find jobs / get clean / get centered. Anjali is the volunteer coordinator here and she is amazing - warm, sweet, organized, caring, helpful, etc. :) It's a wonderful experience to volunteer here and I highly encourage anyone to do so. Even if you don't want to work in the kitchen you can fold laundry or work at the women's center (must be female though!) You have to attend a 2 hour orientation before you start volunteering, which is a great idea so you don't feel super lost and confused on your first day.
I had a great experience volunteering here at St. Vincent de Paul Society. They run a tight ship and need people to help with serving, cleaning, and daily operations. The people here are great and really care about the people in SF. I would encourage anyone to sign up and volunteer here. Do some good :)
I had the opportunity to chaperone a group of ten college students to volunteer with the St. Vincent de Paul Society for 9 days in June this past summer. It was one of the most amazing experiences I've had in my life. We had a very structured schedule everyday. Some of the time we were serving at the MSC South homeless shelter (kitchen duty, cleaning duty), & some of the time we were working at the St. Vincent de Paul Wellness Center. We were able to participate in a wide range of activities through the wellness center. These included: Tai Chi, Yoga, Meditation, NA/AA Meetings, Nutrition classes, Journaling classes & so much more!
The St. Vincent de Paul Society of San Francisco was established in 1860 on a simple principle: assist those who need help the most.
Whether it be through financial support, spiritual guidance, or by providing basic necessities such as food and shelter, we strive to offer our clients with a sense of hope during their darkest hours.
While the Society has undergone many changes and transformations over the years, we have never wavered in our commitment to support those in need, regardless of race, creed, religion or sexual orientation. From our humble beginnings to our current programs supporting the homeless and survivors of domestic violence, SVDP-SF has remained a champion of San Francisco’s most vulnerable populations.
Today, our organization bolsters 100 dedicated men and women, all working together to improve the lives of over 1,000 people in San Francisco everyday.
